Xtreme Gene is proud to offer world class coaching to everyone from absolute beginners to some of the worlds best riders.
All of our coaches are dedicated to ensuring you get the most possible from your time here, working hard for you to achieve your goals whilst still having a fun holiday, this along with endless flat water runs for the wakeboarders and idilic slalom courses for the skiers means there is no comparison.
Below are our resident coaches but we also have other guest Pro coaches throughout the year.
Matthew Southam
Ski Manager & Head Ski Coach
Matthew has immense respect in the skiing world and is a professional instructor who is internationally renowned. He teaches various National Teams in all disciplines and competes and coaches alongside the world’s best skiers. With a current PB of 2 buoys at 10.25 meters.
Matthew started skiing at the age of 8 and went on to become a member of the British Water Ski Team at the age of 10. His achievements are many with numerous national titles at junior and senior levels and have previously gained him a ranking of 7th in the World.
Matthews’s popularity is due to his relaxed and patient coaching style and he is happy coaching all levels from beginners to pros. He also speaks fluent Spanish for our Spanish skiers.
Andres Ailjo
Wake Manager & Head Wake Coach
Nationally renowned Spanish rider and coach who is respected throughout Europe for being a great coach for all levels of riders. Also in 2010 became Spanish National Champion. With a no nonsense, thorough approach. Andres originally from Seville is fluent in English and can be relied on to add humour to any day. Andres is also a qualified Physiotherapist.
David Coates
Irish Pro & Wake Coach
David Coates has been our regular wakeboard coach for the past two seasons. During this time he has worked with beginners right through to european team riders and can aid your progression regardless of level with his unique coaching style. David also puts his own teaching to use on the water where he competes at the highest European level and has received a number of top awards. Last year alone he was crowned UK Pro tour overall champion. This former Irish champion has also captained the Irish wakeboard team and is the current Irish team coach.
Jack Hammersley
English Pro & Wake Coach
Jack a popular coach here at Xtreme Gene is 22years old and has been wakeboarding for over 9 years and coaching nearly as long. Jack a well known UK Pro Rider has a number of titles and ranked highly in the UK Pro Tour for the last few years. He is currently sponsored by Fox, Dragon and Justwatersports. jack has his own club in the UK and therefore works with us early and end season.
Debbie Southam (Kelly)
Marketing & Administration
Debbie is responsible for all day to day running of the company and administration. She is the person that will make all booking arrangements for you to ensure your trip organization goes smoothly and can help with any queries you may have. She along with her husband Matt are responsible for most of the socializing and nights on the town too !

Head of Security
Tonto is without a doubt the boss and is responsible for security and now manages a team of 4 dogs to ensure top security at Xtreme-Gene.
Cybil
Councelling
Cybil is probably the best known and most loved (by all our guests) member of the team. She provides constant affection for all and is a great listener should you want to share your life’s problems or just tell how well you skied / ride when no one else will listen !
Loca
Lifeguard & Entertainment
Loca aptly named is crazy. She provides constant entertainment and loves to accompany you for a swim or in the kayaks and is often spotted off swimming in the middle of the lake !!!
Teegan
Trainee Security
Teegan a relative newcomer to the team is under strict supervision by Tonto and despite her size is an absolute softy.
Choco
Trainee Security
Choco is the most recent addition and still a baby so has not yet found his role in life other than stealing anything worth chewing and entertaining the guests.
